Charles “Trey” Kelso

December 18, 2024

In September, the FCSN suffered a major loss with the unexpected passing of our CFO and Board Treasurer, Charles “Trey” Kelso.  In 2009, Trey started the Maryland chapter of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), and served as the Maryland State Director. Trey was elected to the FCSN Board of Directors in 2012, where he served as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, up until the time of his death. Trey also served as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department, and was a past Fire Chief of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George’s County in Maryland.

“Trey was a beloved member of the FCSN family and we are deeply saddened by his passing. His dedication and commitment to our organization has made a significant contribution to the success of the FCSN. Because of his efforts, countless lives have been forever changed. Trey will be remembered for his tireless work ethic and devotion to the FCSN mission. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with his entire family,” said CEO/President Bryan Frieders.FCSN leadership was proud and honored to attend the celebration of life for Trey held in Maryland at the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, where CEO/President Frieders delivered a eulogy, as well as a reception hosted by the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department.

The FCSN leadership will remain steadfast in their commitment of honoring the memory and legacy of our beloved FCSN friend and brother.
