During the #IAFF100Years convention in Seattle today, IAFF members unanimously passed a resolution calling for a National Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s an excerpt: “...The IAFF, in conjunction with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, will provide scientific research, training resources, and…collaboration…to share information and best practices to reduce preventable cancer risk….”
The Firefighter Cancer Support Network is honored to continue our close partnership with the International Association of Fire Fighters on this issue, and we will work with all who are committed to saving firefighters from occupational cancer.
Thanks to IAFF Local 3631 President Baryic Hunter for drafting the resolution, to OC Firefighters, Local 3631, San Diego City Fire Fighters, Metro Broward Professional Firefighters Local 3080, Professional Firefighters/Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Local 2928 IAFF, and Boston Fire Fighters Local 718 IAFF for their enthusiastic support, and to all IAFF members who passed the resolution.
Here’s to another century of the IAFF standing strong!
