Saying Goodbye to a Dear Friend – Dave Rehnke

Dave Rehnke was perhaps the finest example of what the FCSN represents. When we met Dave, he had been given a difficult diagnosis, but always remained optimistic that he would beat his cancer. He refused to allow any outside influence effect his ability to thrive. He was an eternal optimist, but also knew when someone needed a dose of reality.

As the Arizona State Director, and despite his own physical challenges, Dave always made time to help others- especially those with cancer. He was the shining light into the darkness that a cancer diagnosis brings. He was the person who always had time for you, and never made you feel like you were an inconvenience. Dave lost his battle with occupational cancer on January 11, 2021.

Dave was a warrior, an advocate for firefighter health and safety, and an integral part of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. But more importantly, Dave Rehnke was our friend, and we will miss him tremendously.
