Updates from the front lines in the fight against occupational cancer in the fire service.

Connecticut State Director Dan Wuori

My name is Daniel Wuori and I have been a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 38 years. I have been the EMS Captain for my fire department for the past 5 years. In my day job, I have worked as a medical assistant in a Doctor’s office for the last 20 years. I have been married to my lovely wife Kitty Hickcox for 6 years. We enjoy traveling and entertaining when we can.

I am a 7-year T-cell lymphoma survivor. I heard about FCSN when I attended the North East Fire Chiefs show in 2013. I have always been someone to be actively volunteering. In addition to being the Connecticut State Director for FCSN, I am a mentor and a co-chair for the volunteer firefighters and cancer committee.

In Connecticut, we have added 5 new members to our FCSN family in the last two years. We have been successful in getting out and doing many presentations this past year. We are also working on a project about annual physicals and the cancer bill in Connecticut.
